The Archuleta County Education Center (ACEC) was formed in 1989 with the purpose of providing educational services that were needed but were not available in Archuleta County. The programs offered have changed from year to year, depending on the need and available funding. Many adult education classes, including language classes, preparation for the GED, ESL, and college level classes have been offered. An alternate high school was operated in collaboration with the Archuleta School District. After school tutoring and enrichment programs have been offered. Primary funding for these programs was through grants, community fund raising and tuition.
